GEOL& 101: Introduction to Physical Geology w/Lab

Credits: 5.0

An introduction to physical geology including the origin, composition,and structure of the earth and the processes that generate landscapes. Prerequisite(s): Placement inENGL 99 or completion of BSTEC 110, and placement in MATH 81 or 87or completion of CONST 145.

Course Level Objectives

  1. Demonstrate a critical understanding of general scientific principles, with an emphasis on geologic scientific principles.
  2. Clearly communicate the fundamental knowledge particular to geology with their peers using the appropriate vocabulary.
  3. Apply the concepts and information in geology to problems that affect their lives, in particular, and our society, in general.
  4. Demonstrate the use of mathematics appropriate to geology and perform calculations appropriate to the task.
  5. Make reliable measurements and perform analysis appropriate for geology.

GEOL& 103: Historical Geology w/Lab

Credits: 5.0

Surveys the geologic history of the earth, including the history of life on earth. Students learn to interpret rock and fossil evidence. Prerequisite(s): Placement in both ENGL 99 and MATH 81 or MATH 87.
